”Good procurement drives innovation, quality and cost-efficiency.”

Railway Day takes place on November 26. We met Oxyfi AB, a partner for the day, and took the opportunity to ask a few questions.

Hello, Håkan Larsson, CEO, Oxyfi AB. Järnvägsdagen brings together industry players to discuss the future – what makes you want to be part of that conversation?

– It is completely natural for us to participate. Oxyfi operates exclusively within the railway industry where we develop and operate digital services on board the vehicles. The Swedish railway sector is complex and divided into many different roles and responsibilities. At Railway Day, everyone meets – operators, suppliers, authorities and politicians – which makes the conference one of the few arenas where the entire ecosystem comes together. For us, it is both valuable and necessary to understand what is at the top of the agenda for each actor and at the same time be able to contribute to the dialogue.

If you could wish for one thing that would solve the challenges within the railways in Sweden - what would it be?

– There is no simple solution to all challenges, but if I may wish for one thing, it is more transparent and efficient procurement. Good procurement drives innovation, quality and cost-effectiveness.

At the same time, our industry needs to move towards open and standardized solutions, and away from closed proprietary systems. This is crucial to ensure competition, reduce lock-in, and create a modern and sustainable railway.

What does your company contribute to the railway system?

– Oxyfi connects rail vehicles to the internet through parallel 5G connections and satellite communications. On top of our platform, we offer a broad ecosystem of digital services – WiFi for passengers, infotainment, CCTV/security cameras, passenger counting (APC), GPS and containerized applications. Through an open and modern technology platform, we deliver secure, robust and easy-to-manage IT solutions that make it easier for transport operators and transport authorities to digitalize their vehicle fleets.
